Today is a horrible day for America. 20 children and six adults lost their lives in a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut today. You may be asking yourself, “What is happening to our world today?” I know I have asked this question many times in recent years. One can look around and see that tragic happenings seems to be multiplying with each event becoming even more horrifying than the last. The truth is there is an evil in the world. And although we must dwell here with it, we can know there is a power within us greater than the evil in the world. It is during times of tragedy we must look within ourselves and draw upon that power.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said today, “The shooting wrenches the hearts of all people. Once again we speak against the culture of violence infecting our country even as we prepare to welcome the Prince of Peace at Christmas. All of us are called to work for peace in our homes, our streets and our world, now more than ever.”

Now is the time we must rise up and show those who are suffering as a result of this tragedy the way. Let us lead them with our hope when they do not have enough hope of their own. We must remember we are all in this together.

A Message of Hope

Chaos is all around us and it appears mankind is facing a consuming darkness. Do you have a strong hope and passion for life despite the chaos? Would you like to share that hope with others? Or maybe you are afraid time is running out, and you have you thought, “When will this all stop?” The experience of living in today’s repressed society of squashed dreams has spawned an epidemic of hopelessness. Every day, in the midst of it all, millions of people are searching for Hope. When individuals unify in pursuit of a common goal, anything is possible. Every small action creates a ripple, multiple small actions create waves. Let’s create waves and flood the darkness with light.

“My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” -Desmond Tutu

To hope is human. We all need hope. Just think of what can happen when we all unite our Hope together. I am a Hope Messenger. Will you join me and become a Hope Messenger too?
